Stone chip repair - fast and uncomplicated for the customer

Who hasn't experienced it: You're driving to work and then it goes "puddle". A small stone has hit the windshield and left its mark. It's not pretty, but it's not dramatic either - at least when you turn to A.T. Iser for help.

"A stone chip can often be repaired," says Porkurist Norbert Steinfelder. Good for the person affected - and for the environment. "If a stone chip repair is possible, it's the best option for everyone," Steinfelder explains. For the customer and the insurance company, because it's cheaper than replacing a windshield. For the environment, because a repaired windshield is more sustainable than a new one. And for A.T. Iser, "because we can help the customer very quickly in the event of a stone chip," says Steinfelder.

You can increase the chances that a windshield can be repaired. "The important thing is not to crack it," Steinfelder says. That's why you should drive to your trusted auto glazier promptly. "You should also seal the stone chip directly with tape film or a band-aid so that the affected area is protected from outside influences."

If everything goes well, the damage is quickly repaired. "A stone chip repair takes a good half hour," says Steinfelder. In that time, the affected area is cleaned, filled with resin and hardened, and finally polished out. And the ride can be resumed. "After all, dealing with the insurance company is a service we provide for the customer."

Unfortunately, however, there are cases where a windshield replacement is unavoidable. "If there's a crack that's longer than two centimeters, the windshield has to be replaced because you can't prevent the windshield from tearing any further," Steinfelder explains. Repairs are also not allowed if the stone chip is in the driver's field of vision. "This is a legal requirement, because the repaired area could cause light reflections that dazzle." Better safe than sorry. Applies in the case of a stone chip of course also in the choice of the appropriate automotive repairer ;-).
